Voter turnout trends in the Republic of Kosovo 2009 – 2021 (Document)
Pristina, February 02, 2023 – The Central Election Commission published the document “Voter turnout trends in the Republic of Kosovo 2009 – 2021″.
The data analyzed in this document belong to 5 election processes for the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo (2010; 2014; 2017; 2019 and 2021) and 4 local election processes for Municipal Assemblies (2009; 2013; 2017 and 2021). This analysis is based on the quantitative method.
In parts 1, 2, 3 and 4, only the data from regular voting in polling stations, on the day of the elections, were analyzed. These four parts do not include the data of conditional voting, voting of persons with special needs and voting from outside Kosovo. The data from these processes are analyzed in part 5 of this document.
During the comparison of trends within the type of elections, analysis was made based on these categories of trends: General election trends; Electoral trends according to municipalities; Electoral trends by gender; and Electoral trends by age groups. Age groups are divided into 6 groups: 1) 18-21 years old, which include voters who vote for the first time, 2) 22-25 years old as voters who have had the opportunity to vote at least twice, 3) 26-40 years old as well as 4) 41-64 years old, voters of economically active age, 5) 65-99 years old, retired voters, and 6) voters over 100 years old.
